West Coast SwingWest Coast Swing is a contemporary form of swing with roots in Lindy Hop. Historically, West Coast Swing was danced to slower tempos compared to Lindy Hop, with smoother, elastic movements. In modern times, the dance has strayed away from traditional jazz and swing music, in favour of modern pop tunes.
The dance maintains the counter balance connection of Lindy Hop, and has developed the use of an "anchor step" and elastic onnection to aid in creative improvisation. |
